KARACHI: Another international junior squash tournament in Pakistan has got cancelled due to no-show of foreign players. It has been learnt that Pakistan International Junior Squash Championship (AJSS Silver Event) was scheduled form November 24-27 in Islamabad. The entry deadline was November 5. “No foreign player was ready to play this event due to security issues, hence it has been called off,” said the organiser when contacted. The organiser added that foreign players’ parents were not ready to send their children to Pakistan.
The events for boys offered in this championship were under-13, under-15, under-17, under-19, and girls under-19. It to be noted that FMC Pakistan Junior Squash Open scheduled in Lahore from November 16-21 had already been cancelled because of lack of foreign entries.
This was to be the first international junior squash event to be held in the country in six years. Pakistan Squash Federation (PSF) last held an international junior event in the country in 2013 — 5th Roshan Khan Junior Open.
