Avoid politics over Nawaz illness: Hamza
LAHORE: There should be no politics on illness of ailing former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, said Hamza Shahbaz here on Wednesday.
Addressing a session of the Punjab Assembly, Opposition Leader Hamza Shahbaz reminded the ruling party how Nawaz inquired after Imran Khan when he got injured after falling from stage, saying that humanity should prevail and no politics should be done on such events. Not only this, he added, Nawaz also had suspended all his political activities for two days following the injury of Imran Khan. He said a medical board set up by the government supervised the treatment of Nawaz Sharif and Provincial Health Minister Yasmin Rashid witnessed all these activities. Still, he lamented, efforts are made to create controversy over the issue, which is regrettable. Similarly, Hamza said, after diagnosis of his father's cancer, a similar organized exercise was done by some circles.
He was of the view that politics should continue but humanity should never be ignored.
There must be no bitterness on such issues that may hold next generations hostage to acrimony.
Responding to Hamza’s speech, Law Minister Raja Basharat said the government provided full treatment facilities to Nawaz and he himself expressed satisfaction over it. He said there should be no politics on the issue.
