Huzaifa, Ushna excel in Pak Open Tennis
LAHORE: Huzaifa Abdul Rahman and Ushna Suhail impressed in the men’s and ladies categories respectively on the third day (Wednesday) of the fourth EBM Pakistan Open Tennis Championship held in different age groups at the PLTA courts.
In the quarterfinals of the men’s singles young Huzaifa Abdul Rahman remained impressive defeating Ahmed Ch 6-2, 7-5. In other quarterfinals Aqeel Khan defeated Heera Ashiq 6-1, 6-2, Mudasssar Murtaza defeated Yousuf Khalil 6-1, 4-6, 6-1, Muzammal Murtaza beat M Shoaib 6-0, 6-1. In the ladies singles quarterfinals star player Ushna Sohail trounced Esha Jawad 6-0,6-0 while Sara Mansoor defeated Shimza Darab 6-1,6-0, Mehak Khokhar beat Noor Malik 6-2,7-5 and Sara Mahboob outplayed Zara Salman 6-0,6-0.
In the Under-10 quarterfinals Hamza Ali Rizwan defeated Hassan Usmani 4-2, 5-3, Haniya Minhas defeated Harris Bajwa 4-0, 4-0, Amir Marzari beat Abdul Basit 4-1, 4-2. In the quarterfinals of 35-plus, Aqeel Khan and Rasheed Malik defeated Mahboob and Adeel 6-3, 6-3, Asher Ali Khan and Fayaz Khan defeated Hadi and Haider 6-1, 6-2. In the 45 plus category doubles Rashid Malik and Fayyaz Khan defeated Rana Nadeem and Hassan Saeed 6-2, 6-0, Arif Feroz and Mahboob Waheed beat M Babar and M Zargam 7-5, 6-0.
