Cop martyred in Hangu attack
HANGU: A cop was martyred in an attack on a police checkpost in the limits of Daoba Police Station in Hangu district on Monday, official sources said.
They said that Constable Piyao Ali was performing duty at the checkpost in Tora Warai when unidentified gunmen opened fire on him, leaving him critically injured. The injured cop was shifted to a nearby hospital in Doaba where he succumbed to his injuries. Regional Police Officer (RPO) Kohat Range Tayyab Hafiz Cheema said that following the incident, the police launched a search operation in the surrounding areas and covered all the exit points in the area to arrest the terrorists but no arrest could be made so far. He said that the police had launched investigation into the incident. The funeral prayer for the martyred cop was offered at the Police Lines in Hangu. RPO Tayyab Hafiz Cheema, District Police Officer Ihsanullah Khan, and other police and civil officials attended the funeral. The body was shifted to the native village, Lodhikhel.
