While insisting on Rs7 bn bonds…: PM Imran Khan govt has to settle for Rs50 stamp paper, says Ahsan Iqbal
NAROWAL/LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Secretary General Ahsan Iqbal has said the Imran Niazi-led government had to settle for only a Rs50 stamp paper while insisting on Rs7 billion indemnity bonds from Nawaz Sharif.
Talking to the media in his native city Narowal on Sunday, he said the court permission for Nawaz Sharif’s treatment abroad was, in fact, defeat of Imran Khan’s enmity with the Sharif family and other political opponents.
Meanwhile, PML-N Spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb said on Sunday that an air ambulance for transportation of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif would arrive in the country on Tuesday morning and he would leave for London the same day for medical treatment there.
She said doctors conducted a thorough examination of Nawaz Sharif on Sunday and also held discussions on how to get the PML-N supremo ready for the journey. Nawaz would initially be shifted to the United Kingdom where doctors would analyse his condition and decide if he would be treated there or moved to a different country.
She said they were in the process of administeringhigh potency steroids to raise and stabilise his platelet count. The doctors were also striving to keep his blood pressure, blood sugar and other vitals as close to normal as possible, she added.
Marriyum warned that the minister should stay in their limits and refrained from interpreting the court verdict according to their own wishes. She said all such attempts were, in fact, the contempt of court. She also called upon people to pray for the PML-N leader’s complete recovery.
Nawaz Sharif’s family physician Dr Adnan Khan stated that the PML-N leader would travel to London in the next 48 hours once he was clinically stable. He said Nawaz Sharif would make the journey in a fully equipped and medically staffed air ambulance.
Meanwhile, PML-N President and opposition leader in the National Assembly Shahbaz Sharif said the party would continue taking forward the mission of Nawaz Sharif in his absence.
In a statement, he also thanked leaders of various treasury and opposition parties for expressing good wishes for Nawaz Sharif’s health. “I thank Awami National Party, Pakistan People’s Party, PML-Quaid and Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan for their good wishes for ailing former prime minister Nawaz Sharif,” he added. The political parties have shown humanity over Nawaz Sharif’s condition, he added.
“I thank Shujaat Hussain and Pervaiz Elahi of the PML-Q for their good wishes,” he said and added that coalition parties of the government promoted politics of humanitarian values and reconciliation instead of enmity. Shahbaz also thanked cricketer Muhammad Yousaf for his prayers for early recovery of Mian Nawaz Sharif.
