Choked sewerage irks residents
From Our Correspondent
JHANG: Residents of Basti Attawali and New Eidgah Road have been facing several problems due to the choked sewerage.
Talking to newsmen here, they appealed to the chief secretary and the Local Government and Community Development secretary to take notice and resolve the issue. They said that they went to the TMA officials and told them about the choked sewerage but to no avail. They said that the drain had been choked for the last many months and now sewage had started entering their houses.
When contacted, TMA CO Mukhtar Shah said that he sent the sanitation staff to clear the main sewerage and hurdles between the main line and street drains. He said that the team visited the area and submitted the okay report to him.
TMA Administrator Babar Rehman said that he had directed the TMA CO to immediately resolve the issue and the CO informed him that the matter was resolved. To a question about fake compliance report, he said that if the staff was found guilty, action would be taken against them.
