Three militants among 91 suspects held in Kohat

KOHAT: The police arrested 91 suspected persons, including three militants, in the district on Friday, official sources said.
The sources said that following the directives by the provincial police chief Nasir Khan Durrani to ensure security on the Independence Day, the police contingency headed by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Lal Farid and DSP Headquarters Abdur Rashid Khan conducted raids in the Cantonment, City and Afghan Refugees Camp where they claimed to have arrested 91 suspected persons, including three militants.
The sources said that the operation continued in the Cantonment and City areas, besides Afghan Refugees Camp as most of the detained suspects were Afghan national and non-locals.
The police seized four Kalashnikovs, three repeaters, nine pistols, two shotguns, two rifles, seven magazines and hundreds of cartridges.
The District Police Officer (DPO) Kohat Mohammad Sohaib Ashraf personally monitored the operation which could continue overnight to achieve the objectives. He also ordered reshuffle of 34 personnel in the Traffic Department to improve and follow the implementation of the traffic rules strictly in the district.
