Khidmat Cards to be distributed from today

GUJRANWALA: DCO Rafaqat Ali has said that distribution of the Khidmat Cards among special persons will start here from Aug 14 (today).
He said this while chairing a meeting held to review arrangements for distribution of the Khidmat Cards here on Thursday. Focal person of the programme Amanullah, AC City Attiqur Rehman, AC Sadar Arifullah Awan, EDO Health Dr Saeedullah Khan and other concerned officers were also present in the meeting. The DCO said that under this programme, subsidy would be given to the special persons of the district, adding that national resources would be spent on the welfare of the special persons. It was told in the meeting that 2,300 special persons would be entertained through these cards and four centres had been established at DHQ and THQ hospitals for distribution of the cards. It informed that transport facility would also be provided to the special persons.
Blind persons demand increase in job quota

GUJRANWALA: Dozens of blind persons staged a demonstration against the Punjab government and demanded increase in the job quota.
The protesters gathered at Qila Chand Bypass and blocked traffic from Lahore to Islamabad. The blind persons chanted slogans against the government and said that the government was trying to satisfy them by giving them some jobs on daily basis. They demanded permanent jobs in the government’s departments.

GUJRANWALA: A 10-year-old boy was sexually abused by a shopkeeper at Saleempura on Thursday.
The son of Imran went to the shop of Abdul Karim to purchase some eatables but the accused took him to the backside of the shop and allegedly sodomised him. On his hue and cry, the accused fled. Kot Ladha police have registered a case.
