ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Political Affairs Dr Syed Asif Saeed Kirmani has claimed that the KP government has chalked out a plan to rig the upcoming poll process in by-elections for NA-19 (Haripur) and for this purpose strategy has been drawn up by the PTI in a meeting held in the CM House Peshawar the other day.
The polls will be held on 16th of this month. In a statement he has said that details of the ‘rigging plan’ have reached to him and for the reason he is demanding that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) should deploy Army/Rangers for supervising the polls.
He expressed fear that the PTI sensing defeat in the by-election would create a law and order situation. The rigging plan would be executed in the garb of such situation. Kirmani said that decency would be hallmark of the electioneering of the PML-N since Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has asked them to demonstrate tolerance even if the PTI workers resort to misbehave.
He said that a formal request is being submitted to the ECP for deployment of Army/Rangers in NA-19 by-election. The SAPM recalled that the PTI had unleashed rigging in the Local Bodies polls and stole the mandate of the people of the province and fairness couldn’t be expected from the PTI administration in the upcoming election. Kirmani is in the campaign areas and addressing public rallies there. He had interaction with several people from both the sides of divide during these days.
