JHANG: On the application of a police constable, the Kotwali police on Wednesday booked a sub-inspector on the charge of poor investigation and favouring a nominated accused during investigation of a case.
Constable Muhammad Azam of Mohallah Bhabrana informed the DSP City through an application that accused car dealer Safdar Ali gave him a cheque of Rs 600,000 but later he managed to lodge a police report about misplacing his cheque book of the same bank account whose cheque was given to him. Later, Safdar refused to return his amount, he added. The complainant said that a case was registered against accused Safdar on the direction of DPO under Section 489/F and investigation of the case was given to SI Javed Iqbal. Azam alleged that the SI allegedly received Rs 30,000 from accused Safdar as a bribe to give him favour in the case. The complainant said that the SI also favoured the accused car dealer at various occasions and even gave a statement in favour of the accused car dealer in a court, which was a violation of the police rules and against the findings of the investigation. Later, on the direction of the DSP City, the Kotwali police registered a case against SI Javed Iqbal under sections 193 and 409.
