Police tortures youth for 15 days

MULTAN: The Seetal Marri police have allegedly subjected a youth to inhuman physical torture making his body paralysed over failing to pay Rs 50,000 for his release. The police also exaggerated the record and brought the arrest on record after 15 days as a court bailiff recovered the boy on Saturday.
The youngster is unable to even move his muscles and fell on the ground when the court bailiff raided the police station and recovered him from custody while ordering the police to produce the whole arrest record before the court. On the other hand, the area police SP, Asif Bhagio, refused to talk on the issue.
The police torture victim’s family protested and demanded action against the police officials involved in the affair.
The boy couldn’t walk and cried for justice when he was produced before the court as the family members took him on shoulders.
Talking to this scribe, the victim’s counsel, Tariq Manj, said the police had arrested Muhammad Rashid, 20, from Chowk Kumharnawala 15 days ago and kept him in illegal custody without registration of case. He was arrested on the charges of being ‘suspicious’ Section 54 and allegedly subjected to inhuman physical torture. The Police demanded Rs 50,000 for his release, which the poor family failed to pay.
The district and sessions judge deputed a bailiff for his recovery, who recovered him from the police station in a miserable condition.
Rashid is a labourer by profession and works at a factory. His family said the police had exaggerated the record and brought his arrest on record with red ink after the bailiff left the police station with the boy.
The court granted three-day remand and handed him over to police, while ordering that the accused would first undergo a medical examination before investigation.
