CHITRAL: The Utility Stores Corporation (USC) on Saturday set up mobile stores to provide relief items to the flood victims in the affected areas of the district, an official said.
Talking to reporters, USC Managing Director Sultan Mehmood said that the corporation had purchased food items, including flour, rice, ghee, pulses, clothes and other items from the open market on low-price.
He said that the relief food items would be provided to the affected families in Bamburet, Rambur, Ewan, Koragh, Ziet and Shogram areas.
He said that eight tonnes of relief items have so far been dispatched to Booni, the administrative headquarters of Mastuj sub-division, from Gilgit-Baltistan.
He said that the relief food items would be provided to the affected families once the road link between the upper and lower parts of Chitral was restored.
He said that more mobile stores would be set up to speed up the relief operation and reach out to the affected families.
