‘No danger to Sukkur from flood water’

SUKKUR: Special Assistant to Sindh Chief Minister Ali Hasan Hingorjo after visiting Begari dyke, Zero Point, Sukkur and Ali Wahan dyke said that the flood situation is normal, the protective dykes have been strengthened and there is no danger to the Sukkur district from flood water.
Speaking to media personnel at Zero Point and Ali Wahan dyke, Ali Hasan Hingorjo said that after public complaints and media reports regarding the seepage at Begari dyke, he had visited the place of Begari dyke where its condition is quite satisfactory and seepage is of a minor level. There were no expectation of breakage of the dyke and was no danger to the Sukkur city and the district, he added.
He further said that the transport facility is being provided to residents of kutcha areas of Ghotki district and they are migrating to safer places.
He said that 1,980 people have left the kutcha areas in Ghotki, who are being provided food items, cooked food packets and drinking water besides arrangements have been made for medical camps for the treatment facility of the affected people and veterinary camps for their cattle.
The Special Assistant said that 116 families from Kandhkot and Kashmore have also arrived at the relief camps. He said, at present the pressure level of water is normal and if it increases, then all the residents of kutcha areas will be shifted to safer places and settled at relief camps. Also, motor boats, heavy machinery and other required material has been made available at protective dykes.
