Shahbaz Sharif has taken notice of the news on Geo News regarding relief activities in Basti Tayyabwala of Jumman Shah, Layyah and ordered the DCO Layyah to immediately send required boats to the flood-affected area and rescue activities be accelerated to evacuate marooned people safely. He said that provision of edible items and necessary facilities should be ensured to flood affectees and report be submitted to Chief Minister’s Office.
Meanwhile, Shahbaz Sharif also took notice of the news regarding burning of a youth in Kallorkot, Bhakkar and sought a report from DPO Bhakkar. He ordered that the accused should be immediately arrested and justice be provided to the affected family at any cost.
He has also taken notice of display of firearms in the election rally regarding bye-election in Gujranwala and sought a report from RPO Gujranwala. He directed immediate legal action against the persons involved and said that they should be arrested immediately. He said that no one would be allowed to take law in his hand.

He also expressed grief over the loss of life and property due to flood in Chitral and Skardu. He expressed sympathies and condolences with the bereaved families and prayed that may Allah Almighty rest the departed souls in eternal peace and grant courage and strength to the bereaved families to bear the irreparable loss with fortitude. He said the Punjab government equally shared the grief of families of those who died due to flood in Chitral and Skardu.
Teachers’ training: British Minister of State for International Development Desmond Angus Swayne called on Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif here on Friday. Matters regarding promotion of cooperation in education, health, skill development and other sectors were discussed in the meeting.
The chief minister said that Britain is an important trade partner of Pakistan. Various programmes in education, health and skill development sectors are running successfully in Punjab with the cooperation of Department for International Development (DFID) of UK. He said the Punjab government wanted to promote cooperation with DFID and technical assistance especially in skill development would be welcomed. He said the Punjab government was taking revolutionary steps for empowerment of youth.
He said that besides enrolment in schools, special attention was being paid to teachers’ training for the promotion of quality education and the achievement of the targets fixed regarding quality education until 2017-18 would be ensured. He said that DFID should consider provision of technical assistance for producing quality skilled manpower and teachers’ training. He assured that the Punjab government would provide all-out cooperation for this purpose.
The chief minister said special centres were being set up for redressing grievances of the women subjected to violence and all-out facilities regarding provision of justice would be provided to them at these centres. He said Women Development Endowment Fund was being established in the province. He said the Punjab government had amended laws for enhancing punishment for terrorist activities. He said Counter Terrorism Force had been set up in the province which had been provided training on modern lines. He said that besides use of force, provision of education and health facilities as well as jobs were also necessary for rooting out the scourge of terrorism. Therefore, he said, government was paying special attention in this regard. He said that thousands of poor but talented students got admission in educational institutions of higher studies with the help of Punjab Educational Endowment Fund and their educational expenses were being paid by the Punjab government from this fund.
He said Pakistan is a peaceful country and wants to have good relations with all countries of the world.
