FAISALABAD: District Coordination Officer (DCO) Noorul Amin Mengal Thursday constituted an inspection team under the supervision of the Secretary RTA to check driving licences of drivers of public transport vehicles.
The inspection team has been directed to check licences of the drivers on all roads and assess how many drivers are with driving licences.
The DCO said the steps were being taken to eliminate the traffic accidents mainly caused by untrained drivers on main roads.
The DCO further instructed the team to check driving licences issued by competent authorities of other districts and provinces.
The team is told only those drivers should be allowed to run public transport on roads if they are possessing genuine driving licences.
The DCO said the drivers found with fake licences would be sent to jail and their vehicles be impounded forthwith.
