KARACHI: Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and International Telecom Union (ITU) has organised a training programme for Afghan Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (Atra) and Afghanistan Communication Ministry from July 20-23, 2015 at PTA headquarters, said a statement issued Thursday.
The event was attended by ITU Regional Office Asia Pacific Senior Advisor Sameer and PTA Chairman Dr Ismail Shah, Dr Yusaf Jamal, and IT and Telecommunication Ministry’s Ameena Sohail distributed certificates to the participants.
Senior officers of PTA as well as Telenor, Mobilink and PMD gave detailed presentations on Pakistan telecom regulation regime and briefed the seven-member delegation about various aspects of law, licensing, and service regulation.
PTA chairman briefed the visiting delegation and said it was an honour for Pakistan to be selected by ITU for imparting training to its neighbouring country. Afghan participants appreciated the rich content of the programme.
ITU representative Sameer will also deliver a presentation on ‘ITU : platform for smart partnership and sustainable development in Pakistan’ on July 24, 2015 at PTA. The event would be attended by representatives of telecom sector and academia.
