Multan corps commander reviews flood arrangements

MULTAN: Corps Commander Lt-Gen Ashfaq Nadeem Ahmed on Wednesday visited flood-affected areas of Layyah and reviewed flood arrangements.
The corps commander reviewed the security dykes near Bhakri in the district and expressed his satisfaction over the situation and flood combat arrangements, the ISPR press release said. Lt-Gen Ashfaq Nadeem paid special visit to Bhakri security dyke and reviewed the army preparations for relief operation. The military officials briefed the corps commander about flood situation in the area and flood combat strategy, it added. The corps commander visited on the special directions of Chief of Army Staff Gen Raheel Sharif, the press release said. It added that the special army units were cooperating with the district administration to meet any emergency regarding flood. The corps commander issued special directions for the betterment and improvement of flood arrangements, the press release added. Lt-Gen Ashfaq Nadeem issued directions to the district departments for making foolproof arrangements to combat flood to ensure timely relief, the ISPR press release said. He appreciated and encouraged soldiers busy in relief operation preparations and vowed armed forces would stand with the masses in all ordeals. Later, Corps Commander Lt-Gen Ashfaq Nadeem met Waziristan IDPs in Layyah district and paid tribute to them for sacrificing during the Operation Zarb-e-Azb.
