HARIPUR: Five persons were killed in different parts of the Haripur city here on Monday. In the first incident, Ghazi police said that two labourers went down into a well to repair a water machinery in Jamun village, but they fell unconscious due to the accumulation of poisonous gas.
In order to rescue them when two other people went into a well, they too fainted. The local people took them to the Ghazi hospital where doctors pronounced Hamid Akhtar and Mehmood Shah dead.In another incident, two persons were killed while four others sustained injuries when a passenger van and a car collided on the GT Road.
The accident took place near Shah Maqsood bridge when a coaster en route to Abbottabad from Haripur collided with a car. The driver of the car Waseem Abbas and Mohammad Ali succumbed to injuries. In a similar incident, a car (ISL-665) and an auto rickshaw (RP-186) collided on the Grand Trunk Road near a petrol pump, causing injuries to the rickshaw driver. He later died.
