Torrential rain exposes tall claims of TMA

JHANG: People faced several problems due to torrential rain here in the city on Friday.
The heavy rain inundated various areas of the city including Basti Attawali and New Eidgah Road. The rainwater also entered into the houses of low-lying areas caused problems for the people. Later, residents of Eidgah Road protested against the poor sanitation arrangements of the TMA and said that this mismanagement created problems for them after the heavy rain. The people said that this accumulated dirty water could cause skin and other diseases. They said that the TMA had introduced a development project worth millions of rupees regarding upgradation of sewage system of New Eidgah Road and Basti Attawali. They alleged that the project was secretly launched and completed in papers because millions of rupees were released in this regard. They said that they had submitted several complaints with the TMA offices regarding sewerage problem but to no use. When contacted, the TMO told that directions had already been issued to the chief officer and other officials concerned to resolve the sewage issue at Basti Attawali and New Eidgah Road.
