DERA GHAZI KHAN: The district police have deployed over 1,200 officers and officials for security of Eid congregations across the district while the Eid prayer would be offered at 300 mosques and other places, said District Police Officer Ghulam Mubashir Maikan.
Talking to newsmen here on Friday, he said that foolproof security arrangements had been made while the police had been put on high alert. He said that the teams of the Elite Force would keep patrolling the sensitive areas.
On the other hand, political assistant Shahid Mehboob Dogar said that the officials at the entry and exit points of the tribal borders as well as the inter-provincial borders had been put on red alert. He said that the vehicles and the people crossing the areas were being screened. He said that a crackdown had been launched in the tribal belt to keep it crime free.
Meanwhile, Jumatul Wida was observed in the district amid tight security. Special prayers were offered for peace, progress and prosperity of the country, besides liberation of Palestine from Israeli subjugation. Ulema and Mashaikh, in their special sermons, highlighted the importance of the holy month of Ramazan, fasting, Aitekaf and Jumatul Wida. Policemen had been deployed in and outside mosques and Eidgahs to avoid any untoward incident.
