As usual, all the wrong reasons are being attributed to the miserable performance of our national hockey team. Lack of funds and lack of support by the government are not the major reasons of the downfall of hockey. In fact, both Pakistan and India are now at the bottom in the hockey rankings.
Gone are the days when a ‘flying horse’ carried the stick to the opponent’s goalpost by individual brilliance. These days only those teams win that exhibit stamina, speed and adroit long passes. Let us choose kabaddi as our national sport instead of hockey.
