MULTAN: Seraiki Inqilabi Council (SIC) chairman Muzaffar Khan Magsi Saturday urged the Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif to get back donated 84,000 Kanal land from land grabbers of Muzaffargarh.
Addressing a press conference, the SIC chief urged the CM to order a probe into misappropriation of property of the Sardar Korey Khan Jatoi Trust and maintaining accounts of income and irregularities of the trust.
He warned of launching an agitation movement if the higher authorities failed in providing free education and establishment of education institutions from the income of the trust property.
Magsi said Sardar Korey Khan had donated 84,000 Kanal agricultural land in 1894 to promote free education in Muzaffargarh but the powerful land mafia has grabbed the land. He said Sardar Korey Khan died in 1898 and the whole donated land transferred to Muzaffargarh district council in 1898 and no action was taken against the land mafia.
He said several parts of the land were transferred to other people due to lack of demarcation of the property.
The Alipur Sardar Horey Khan Jatoi Public School building had been constructed with Rs 50 million but only 62 students could be admitted until April 28 last.
He said no free education is being provided to the poor of the area according to the deed of Korey Khan.
He said some 150 students were admitted to Jatoi Public School.
Magsi demanded PhD thesis on Sardar Korey Khan.
He said Sardar Korey Khan had donated 84,000 Kanal land but his graveyard was bulldozed and the land is possessed by mafia in Tehsil Alipur and Jatoi.
He demanded the government ensure implementation on Sardar Korey Khan deed and lion’s share from the income must be spent on education uplift in the region and accounts of Korey Khan property make to public.
He also demanded a probe into Muzaffargarh district auction committee as transactions of the property income was conducted by giving simple receipts instead of through banks.
