Gangster killed, two cops injured in encounter

BAHAWALPUR: A gangster of Katcha area of Rahimyar Khan was killed and two policemen were injured in an encounter in Shedani police limits on Thursday evening.
Three gangsters snatched a motorcycle from Abdul Razzaq near Pattan Utaira on the bank of the Indus. On information, the police started chasing the gangsters. Seeing the police, the dacoits opened fire on them. The police also retaliated. As a result, an unidentified dacoit was killed while two policemen Zafar Iqbal and Sajjad Ali were injured. The injured policemen were shifted to the Liaqatpur THQ Hospital.
TOURIST RESORT: A tourist resort and information centre will be established near Derawar Fort in Cholistan desert at a cost of Rs 100 million, said the Punjab Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) general manager.
Briefing the commissioner, the PTDC GM said that a motorcycle race would also be organised during the Cholistan desert rally. He said that all new projects for the promotion of tourism would be completed to facilitate the tourists, particularly the foreigners.
