LAHORE: Shujaat Hussain has said MQM leader Altaf Hussain should immediately approach a British court like PML-Q which had won the case in 1991 against London’s esteemed newspaper Guardian for publication of wrong news.
Talking to the media after attending the funeral of former MNA and state minister Ghias Ahmad Mela in Mela Village, Sargodha District on Wednesday, Shujaat Hussain said: “Guardian, which is in no way less in importance compared to BBC, had published wrong news that his family got banks loans written off, on which we had filed a case in a British court and the newspaper had on its front page denial of its own story and an apology to our entire family and it had to pay all expenses of the case.
Ch Shujaat Hussain said that during premiership of Nawaz Sharif, BBC had broadcast a story about him and Ishaq Dar indulging in money laundering on which he had advised Nawaz Sharif to approach the court if he had not done money laundering but he had not approach the court. Ch Shujaat Hussain said now his advice to Altaf Hussain was that he should immediately file a case against BBC to prove his innocence so that ambiguity against him should come to an end and it will be very difficult for BBC to prove a wrong story in the court.
Ch Shujaat Hussain met deceased’s father, sons and general (retired) Saleem Mela and offered his heartfelt condolences to them. Dr Khalid Ranjha was with Ch Shujaat Hussain in the funeral prayers.
