PESHAWAR: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawmaker Murad Saeed on Tuesday filed an amended writ petition in the Peshawar High Court (PHC) against cancellation of his BS degree by the University of Peshawar.
Subsequently, a division bench comprising of Chief Justice Mazhar Alam Miankhel and Justice Irshad Qaisar issued notice to the University of Peshawar (UoP) and directed it to submit reply before the next hearing in the case.
Murad Saeed, Member of the National Assembly (MNA) from Swat, in his petition said the UoP conducted an inquiry about the papers cleared by him and cancelled the degree in his absence. Another inquiry, he added, was initiated against the university employees who had conducted the process for his examination in the failed papers.
He submitted that the UoP cancelled his degree through an unlawful way and prayed the court to declare the cancelation order null and void.Meanwhile, the PTI MNA submitted his reply in the court in another writ petition filed for his disqualification by a voter of his National Assembly constituency. The bench also ordered the UoP to submit reply in this petition.
A resident of Swat district has moved the PHC seeking Murad Saeed’s disqualification for making a false declaration while filing nomination papers for contesting the 2013 general election.
