BAHAWALPUR: Police killed a proclaimed offender (PO) in an encounter on Monday.
According to Sadr Hasil police, PO Javed alias Jaida of Chak-84, Murad near Hasilpur, was being brought to his native village for police probe. When the police brought him near the village, accomplices of the PO attempted to get him released and during the firing exchange the PO was shot dead by his accomplices.
The PO was wanted in murder and robbery cases.
SEWAGE PROTEST: Bahawalpur traders and medical store owners continued their protest against relevant authorities over sewage on roads and poor sanitation conditions in city.
The protesters also urged provincial minister Malik Iqbal Channar and JI lawmaker Syed Waseem Akhtar, who are from Bahawalpur, to ask relevant authorities to look into the matter.
The protesters said their woes were not being taken into consideration.
They demanded immediate steps to rid the city of sewage and establish new disposal points for sewerage water.
