ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Water and Power has reconstituted Sukkar Electric Supply Company’s Board of Directors (BoD) that held its first meeting on Wednesday.
The Board in its first meeting elected Nisar Ahmed Siddiqui Chairman of the Board. Nisar Ahmed Siddiqui is a veteran educationist and Director IBA Sukkur. He also served as Commissioner Sukkur in 2004. He is pioneer in establishing IBA at Sukkur and also introduced solar technology at IBA Sukkur. Besides he is well-reputed social worker of Sukkur.
Other members nominated by the government include Nazeer Tunio - MBA from USA. He belongs to district Nausheroferoz and runs micro credit organisation in Sindh. Abbas Baloch Commissioner Sukkur, Akbar Laghari Commissioner Larkana, Agha Imtiaz Ali Khan Baber, a prominent personality from Shikarpur, Imam Din Khoso local businessmen Sukkur, Manzoor Ahmed Mughal from Nausheroferoz, Dr Parveen Shah Vice Chancellor Latif University Khairpur, Tusadduq Hussain DS Finance Div and Mahfooz Bhatti JS Mowp are other members of the Board.
The Ministry of Water and Power took special care in nomination of members of the Board of Directors keeping in view their utility for the company. Since BoD of a company takes important policy decisions, it is very significant that all its members are well educated and from diverse filed. The SEPCO is low performing Power Distribution Company and in a bid to bring in efficiency and improve its performance, the Ministry of Water and Power has reconstituted its BoD.It is expected that inclusion of persons from different districts in the SEPCO and their diverse experience would positively contribute in the performance of the company.
