DADU: Two villagers died on Saturday when a speedy passenger coach hit them near Sann town on the Indus Highway while in another incident a woman, hit by a stray bullet, lost her life near Bhan Saeedabad.
Villagers, along with women and children, staged a protest against the incident and blocked the Indus highway by holding sit-in despite the scorching heat.
The former deputy speaker Sindh Assembly reached the protesters and convinced them to call off the sit-in. Police have taken the coach driver into custody. In a separate incident, a woman Gulli Marri, resident of village Naeem Sharif, was hit by a stray bullet and lost her life.
Police have started investigation. There was another incident at village Gharo of Tahsil Mehar, where 24 villagers, including women and children, fell unconscious after drinking poisonous Lassi. All of the affected, who belonged to the same family, were admitted to the Taluka Headquarter Hospital Mehar for treatment.
