SBP, PFA to make joint efforts for soccer promotion
LAHORE: Football is one of the popular sports of the country and Sports Board Punjab (SBP) and Punjab Football Association (PFA) will make joint efforts for the promotion of football in schools across the province; these views were expressed by Director General Sports Punjab Nadeem Sarwar during an important meeting with Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) Vice-President Malik Amir Dogar, President Punjab Football Association Sardar Naveed Haider and President Sahiwal Football Association MPA Naveed Arshad Lodhi at National Hockey Stadium the other day.
Director General Sports Punjab Nadeem Sarwar said there should be proper patronization of football in the country. “Sports Board Punjab will also hold 3-week under-16 training camps in Lahore, Multan and Rawalpindi with the collaboration of Punjab Football Association” he added.
Amir Dogar and Sardar Naveed also promised to provide FIFA and AFC qualified coaches for the top standard training of young players during camp sessions. The upgradation of football grounds was also discussed during the meeting. Director General Sports Punjab Nadeem Sarwar, on this occasion informed that Punjab Games have been revived after a gap of eight years as per the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan. “The training camps of young players are also being organised throughout Punjab to prepare nursery of Under-16 talented players in the province,” he elaborates.
