GUJRANWALA: A SNGPL team from Lahore and Gujranwala along with FIA officials conducted a raid on Asa CNG Station, Sialkot, reportedly for stealing gas directly from main pipeline and selling gas to consumers even on the days when it is banned.
As the team arrived, several armed men appeared and pushed them out of the CNG station while resorting to aerial firing. As a result, the raiding party sought help from police and SNGPL Sialkot staff.
Later, they found the pipes installed for gas theft as the FIA took the equipment used for the purpose into its custody for examination. FIA Inspector Sajjad Haider Bajwa said a case would be registered after securing laboratory results.
On the other hand, SNGPL official Asim Mir said the CNG station owners were close relatives of a ruling party MNA. It is estimated that gas worth millions of rupees had been stolen.
