MULTAN: A sacked railway employee along with his wife and two children attempted self-immolation against delay in his reinstatement outside the press club here on Friday.
Zafar Abbas, a locomotive cleaner, with his wife and two children came to the press club and tried self-immolation but policemen, who were posted there, foiled their attempt.
Meanwhile, talking to newsmen, Zafar Abbas said that he was terminated from his service on corruption allegations. He said that an inquiry committee had exonerated him from all charges but he had still not been reinstated. He claimed that the federal railways minister had also ordered his reinstatement but the officials were reluctant to reinstate him. Police said that an attempt to suicide case would be registered against the railway employee.
DACOIT INJURED IN ROBBERY: A dacoit was injured during a robbery at a petrol pump here on Friday.
Six bandits riding three motorcycles came to the petrol Pump near Garden Town, took owner Shahbaz Chaudhry and staff hostage and snatched Rs 800,000 from salesman Mansoor Sohail.
In the meantime, shopkeepers around the petrol pump encircled the dacoits, which led to exchange of firing. As a result, one dacoit – Zeeshan – was injured while his accomplices escaped. The injured bandit was shifted to the Nishtar Hospital.
