The administration of Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) on Saturday ordered to stop cardiac surgeries due to review of the machines and other equipment needed in the Cardiovascular Department. The purpose of the review is to ensure quality treatment to the patients who undergo different surgeries and they are operated on according to international standards, said Asim, spokesperson for the LRH. The hospital administration is keen to provide all sorts of facilities not only to cardiovascular department but also to other departments.

For the purpose, medical equipment worth more than a billion rupees were purchased recently for various departments, due to which medical care has improved and patients prefer to come to LRH from all over the province, the spokesman added. The administration, therefore, decided that there would be no cardiac surgeries till further orders. Meanwhile, the doctors in Cardiovascular Department have written a letter to administration of the hospital that there is shortage of some machines for major operations and asked its supply on priority basis.
