Peshawar Police set up special desk to facilitate speedy trial

PESHAWAR: The Capital City Police have set up a special desk to ensure all the witnesses appear in the court on due dates for expeditious trial of the heinous cases. An official said the Peshawar High Court has established Model Criminal Trial Court to expeditiously try and dispose of heinous cases. He said the mainstay of these trials is the witnesses.
"The police officials and officers are witnesses in all cases from investigation officers to marginal witnesses. In order to ensure that our witnesses appear on due dates and testify as per the law, a special desk has been established at the Peshawar Police that will be headed by a deputy superintendent of police," Capital City Police Officer Qazi Jamilur Rehman told reporters.
