PO killed, two accomplices arrested in Kohat
KOHAT: A proclaimed offender was killed and his two accomplices were arrested during an encounter with the police in the mountainous Nusratkhel area in the district.
One of the arrested accused, Sajidullah, was also injured in the exchange of fire with the policemen who destroyed several hideouts of the criminals during the action.
The slain proclaimed officer was identified as Azmatullah. The police also recovered automatic weapons and hand-grenades from the possession of the accused.
The other arrested outlaw was named Mujahidullah. The police launched the action after receiving a tip-off.
On Monday, the police arrested 53 suspects, including five proclaimed offenders, during a search and strike operation in various localities of Kohat city and cantonment.
The personnel of the Elite Force, experts from the bomb disposal unit, sniffer dogs and lady constables had taken part in the action in Mohammadzai, Bilitang, Jangalkhel, Kumbat and other localities.
The accused were wanted for murder, attempted murder, robbery and other heinous nature crimes.
The police had seized six Kalashnikovs, three repeaters, four rifles, 10 pistols, 17 bottles of liquor and five kilogram hashish during the action.
