Farhan reaches squash tourney semis
KARACHI: Farhan Mehboob reached the semi-finals of the $18,000 Serena Hotel Huawei Pakistan International Squash Tournament at Mushaf Squash Complex, Islamabad, on Monday.
In the quarter-final, Fourth seed Farhan thrashed unseeded Ammar Altamimi of Kuwait 5-11, 4-11, 10-12 in just 20 minutes. Farhan will now face top seed Karim Ali Fathi of Egypt in the semis. Meanwhile, the other three Pakistan players lost their quarter-final matches.
Karim beat eighth seed Asim Khan 11-9, 12-10, 11-6 in 42 minutes. Unseeded Amaad Fareed lost to seventh seed Carlos Cornes Ribadas of Spain 11-9, 5-11, 8-11, 11-4, 4-11 in 56 minutes, while fifth seed Mohamed El-Sherbini of Egypt overpowered second seed Tayyab Aslam 11-13, 11-9, 11-2, 6-11, 13-11 in 91 minutes.
