Islamabad : International Baccalaureate Pakistan (IBPAK) Association recently held a meeting and besides highlighting its rising potential in the country, focused on the core challenges faced by the system, says a press release.

The meeting was attended by Jon Halligan, the Head of development Africa, Europe and Middle East (AEM), Uzma Shujjat Development and Recognition manager -Pakistan and Clark Stroupe IB World Schools manager, Asia Pacific. The IBPAK meeting also shed light on the continued support that the IB Development and Recognition team has provided which includes not only authorised and candidate schools in Pakistan, but also holding high level round table meetings with universities, IBCC and the Higher Education Commission (HEC) to address the need for reform in the recognition of systems such as International Baccalaureate.

Currently, 29 schools are IB authorised to offer 41 programmes including Primary Years Programme, Middle Years Programme and IB Diploma Programme in Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi and Faisalabad. Furthermore, 13 schools are in their candidate phase, and many more have expressed interest in adopting the IB system.

Representatives of the IB PAK association proposed to hold an IB PAK conference on 29th February 2020 to increase awareness of IB education in Pakistan. The chairperson of IBPAK Maliha Bilal from Lahore Grammar School International, Lahore and Vice chairperson Azra Tahir from Roots Millennium School, Islamabad also shared the vision to embark on a journey of collaboration, commitment and innovation to create a better world through IB education.
