Weaving City to be set up in Faisalabad
LAHORE: Punjab Minister for Industries, Commerce and Trade Mian Aslam Iqbal announced setting up of Weaving City on 100-acre in Faisalabad where power looms industry will be transferred.
Talking to a delegation of small traders and small industries chambers which called on the minister here Monday, he said that the promotion of SMEs, revival of power looms and cottage industries and resolving the problems faced by the SMEs were the government’s priority.
He said power looms provided jobs to thousands of people and this industry would be revived at all costs. He directed to prepare master plan of the project and present the same within 15 days. He also directed to prepare financial model and development plan of the projects.
He said all the plots would be sold through transparent balloting and the project would also be expanded on the need base. He said plots had also been allocated for the SMEs in Allama Iqbal Industrial Estate, Faisalabad.
