Bahawalpur student stabs teacher to death
BAHAWALPUR: A student was arrested on Wednesday after allegedly stabbing his professor to death at a government college for reportedly organising a mixed-gender reception, said the police.
According to police officials, associate professor Khalid Hameed of Sadiq Egerton College in Bahawalpur was killed by his student Khateeb with a knife on campus. Police arrested the culprit and registered a case. The body of the deceased was taken to hospital for autopsy. “The professor had organised a gender mix reception for the new students and the event was supposed to take place tomorrow, on Thursday,” a police official said. According to the report registered with the police, a copy of which was seen by AFP, the student had shouted that he killed the professor because he was “spreading obscenity”.
