Police on Tuesday registered a case against former Sindh minister for local government Jam Khan Shoro for hitting and injuring an official of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
The FIR was lodged under sections 186, 224, 427 and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code against Pakistan Peoples Party Shoro and his driver on behalf of the additional director (staff) for the director general of NAB, Amir Butt.
In the FIR registered at the Artillery Maidan police station, the complainant said a NAB team carrying a warrant attempted to stop and arrest Shoro near the Sindh Governor House on Awan-e-Saddar Road in order to arrest him, but instead of stopping his vehicle,
the ex-minister asked his driver to speed away. Resultantly, a NAB official, Shabbir, was wounded.
The complainant said the PPP leader injured the NAB official in a bid to escape from the NAB officials who were present to arrest him. The arrest warrant had been issued by NAB on March 13 in an illegal land allotment case.
The bureau had initiated an investigation in October 2017 against Shoro, who is also an MPA from PS-62 Hyderabad-I, for allegedly occupying government land. He is facing inquiries in three different cases.
One of the cases against the former provincial minister pertains to the illegal allotment of 62 government plots in Karachi’s Gulistan-e-Jauhar area. Former Karachi Development Authority director general Nasir Abbas has also been arrested in this case. Shoro is also facing charges of encroaching upon 262 acres of land in Thatta and setting up a petrol station on land designated for a water hydrant in Hyderabad’s Qasimabad area.
