RWMC, Albayrak launch ‘Pakistan Zindabad Cleanliness Week’

Rawalpindi : RWMC and Albayrak have started ‘Pakistan Zindabad Cleanliness Week’ (From March 18 to 23) under the grand Clean & Green Punjab Programme, says a press release.

Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi and RWMC Chairman Ch. Mohammad Ali Randhawa inaugurated the campaign by distributing leaflets and waste bags and plant saplings among the citizens. He said that the main motive to initiate this project is to inform and educate the citizens about the importance of cleanliness so that the people adopt the hygienic conditions and become an effective part of the country. Public was also appealed to cooperate with Rawalpindi Waste Management Company (RWMC) & Albayrak to make this programme successful.

DC Rawalpindi was also accompanied with additional Deputy Commissioner Maliha Lodhi. Secretary RWMC Rizwan Ali Sherdill elaborated to the chairman about the deployment of 2,000 additional sanitary workers for this campaign. Awareness camps are installed at various locations like Liaquat Bagh, Committee Chowk, Rehmanabad and Nawaz Shareef Park where hand washing activity was done with more than 1000 people.

The inaugural ceremony of the cleanliness week was also launched at Rawalpindi Arts Council by RWMC & Albayrak which was attended by people from different walks of life.

Moreover, students from different schools conveyed the message of sanitation through their tremendous performances. After which the students also visited awareness camps, participated in hand washing activity and delivered the message of hygiene. Citizens are being educated through streamers and banners display around the city as well as waste bags and leaflets are distributed during street campaigns. Sanitation and cleanliness operation has been carried out at all the markets and residential areas. Teams are moving door to door to spread the message of cleanliness also symbolic activities have been done by different public figures to demonstrate the hygienic way of life. According to RWMC, the sanitation drive will be keenly monitored the whole week. Sanitary workers are instructed to show full attendance and strict actions will be taken against unnecessary absentees. Also, all types of media outlets are being utilized during the campaign.
