UAF entrance test for undergraduate programmes today

FAISALABAD: The University of Agriculture Faisalabad will organise entrance test for the undergraduate programmes for the academic year 2015-16 under new admission policy at 10:30am on Sunday (today).
The entrance test will be held for the admission to the UAF main campus, Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh sub-campus and Burewala (Vehari) sub campuses. As many as more than 2,000 students will appear in the test. The test centres are established in 11 cities including Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Lahore, Layyah, Multan, Rahimyar Khan, Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Toba Tek Singh, Vehari and Bahawalpur. It is worth mentioning here that every admission in undergraduate programmes will be made under the new policy. According to new admission policy, current students of grade 12 or has passed 12 grade examinations will be admitted provisionally in the undergraduate programmes including BS, BSc and BBA on the matriculation results basis before the announcement of intermediate final results whereas the FSc/FA results will be considered later.

‘Govt failed to resolve exporters’ issues in budget’

FAISALABAD: Office-bearers of the Pakistan Textile Exporters Association have said that the government has failed to address the issues related to exporters in the budget.
In a statement issued here on Saturday, PTEA chairman Sohail Pasha and vice-chairman Rizwan Riaz said that the budget makers had failed to give direction to industrial progress, trading activity, reduction in cost of doing business and enhancing the competitive edge of Pakistani goods in international market. The government had not addressed the challenges hurting the exports, they added. They said that there were no measures to help textile export sector reduce its cost of production and become competitive in global markets as increasing cost of doing business was a stumbling block in export growth. They said that the government already had not cleared the outstanding export refunds in spite of its commitment in the last budget to pay off the claims by Sept, 2014. They added that increase in sales tax rate from 2pc to 3pc was unacceptable and demanded zero rated sales tax on textile export chain. They lamented that textile sector was already in the grip of severe crisis and the industrial production was not in accordance with the built up manufacturing capacity. The PTEA leaders urged the government to address the real and basic challenges of textile industry.
