Govt striving to restore peaceful image of country in world: minister

JHANG: Punjab Minister for Cooperatives Muhammad Aslam Khan Bharwana Sunday said the PTI-led government was striving to expose peaceful image of Pakistan to the world.

Addressing a ceremony of Jashn-e-Jhang 2019 where he was a chief guest at Mai Heer Stadium, the minister said by promoting sports and cultural activities at district level, people living in urban and rural areas were being provided equal opportunities for healthy cultural and social activities.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shaukat Ali, District Police Officer (DPO) Attauer Rehman, former MPA Sultan Sikandar Bharwana, Jhang Chamber of Commerce and Industry former president Muhammad Yaqoob Sheikh, Human and Civil Rights Activists Riaz Javed, members of district council, farmers and people from different walks of life attended the ceremony.

The minister said that this year the event was celebrated to provide healthy recreational facilities to rural and urban people of the district.

He lauded the efforts of the district council administration for the holding colorful Jashn-e-Jhang programmes. The minister said the Jashan-e-Jhang was a significant event for the citizens who showed a keen interest in it. He further said that such cultural and healthy activities would be organised for the entertainment of people in the future.

During his speech, the minister highlighted the importance of the" Green Pakistan" campaign and asked the audience to participate in making the spring tree plantation and cleanliness drives successful as a social responsibility launched by the Punjab government.

Tent pegging, horse race, camel dance and different sports and cultural contests and winners of cattle competitions were held. Moreover, during the festivity, full family-oriented programmes of flowers exhibition, food stalls, ladies gala were also arranged inside Majeed Amjid public park and play land attracted women and children.
