Family persuasion in vain: Nawaz again refuses to go to hospital
LAHORE: Former premier Nawaz Sharif again met his family members in the Kot Lakhpat Jail Thursday where he is serving seven years sentence awarded to him in Al-Azizia reference case. The family members included his mother Ms Shamim Akhtar, daughter Maryam Nawaz, former chief minister Shahbaz Sharif, Leader of the Opposition in Punjab Assembly Hamza Shahbaz and others. The family members had lunch with the PML-N Quaid and remained with him for some time. They tried persuading him to go to any hospital for treatment of his angina problem which is getting worse but he again refused to go to any hospital and told the family that he had left his matter to Almighty Allah.
On the occasion, Maryam started weeping on the poor health of her father. Nawaz asked his family members to show courage at this time of trial and said this hard time will also pass. His mother prayed for his early recovery and freedom. Talking to media after the meeting, former information minister of AJK, Raja Mushtaq Minhas said Nawaz’s condition was deteriorating but government was not providing him required medical care. He said the family members of Nawaz shared the same concerns about his health. Besides the family members, several party leaders and workers also met with Nawaz in the jail.
