PHC bench admits petition against federal minister
ABBOTTABAD: The Abbottabad Circuit Bench of the Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Tuesday admitted for a hearing the petition for disqualification of Federal Minister for Power Omar Ayub Khan and issued notices. The petition was filed by Babar Nawaz Khan of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz to get the federal minister disqualified. Omar Ayub Khan was elected to the National Assembly from Constituency NA- 17 (Haripur) as a candidate of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf in the July 25 general elections, last year by defeating Babar Nawaz Khan. PHC division bench comprising Justice Lal Jan Khattak and Justice Ejaz Anwar heard the arguments from the petitioner’s lawyer and admitted the petition for a hearing. It issued notices to Omar Ayub Khan and Election Commission of Pakistan.
