Germany defence chief, China vice FM call on COAS
RAWALPINDI: Chief of Defence Staff, Federal Republic of Germany General Eberhard Zorn Wednesday called on Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Qamar Javed Bajwa at the General Headquarters (GHQ).During the meeting, matters of mutual interest were discussed including defence and security cooperation and overall regional security situation, particularly the standoff between Pakistan and India, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) press release said.
The visiting dignitary appreciated Pakistan’s positive role for peace and stability in the region. He also mentioned Pakistan’s services in the United Nations peacekeeping and expressed the desire to enhance bilateral relations. Earlier, on arrival at the GHQ, the chief of defence staff laid wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada. A smartly turned out contingent of Pakistan Army presented guard of honour to the visiting dignitary.
Meanwhile, Kong Xuanyou, Vice Foreign Minister of China, called on the COAS.
“Matters of mutual interest, regional security, bilateral cooperation and current situation between Pakistan and India discussed. Visiting dignitary appreciated Pakistan’s efforts for regional peace and stability,” Director General ISPR Major General Asif Ghafoor said on Twitter.
