Govt has failed to honour pledges, says Siraj
KHAR: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) head Senator Sirajul Haq said on Sunday the government had failed to honour the pledges with regard to the merger of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) and said the people were facing a host of problems.
Addressing a gathering here, he said though the tribal people had strived for a long time to get rid of the Frontier Crimes Regulation, they were yet to benefit from the merger process.
Demanding the government to expedite the merger process, he said that the government was dragging its feet on the matter and it would crease the sense of deprivation among the local population.
Sirajul Haq said the government should carry out uplift projects in the merged districts. He said the government should also provide health and education facilities to the people of the tribal districts.
Rallying behind the armed forces, he said JI workers would fight alongside the army in case of Indian aggression. He said the Pakistan Air Force gave a befitting reply to the airspace violation by India.
India was perpetrating atrocities against the innocent Kashmiris, who were striving for their right to self-determination, he said. The JI chief added that India could not quell the freedom struggle through the use of the brute force.
