No voting on no-trust move against Swabi tehsil nazim
SWABI: The voting on a no-confidence motion against Swabi tehsil nazim Wahid Shah on Wednesday did not take place as all the members of the council evolved a formula to maintain the status quo and continue uplift work in the area.
The no-trust was moved against Wahid Shah by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and it hoped that Jamaat-e-Islami would support the move.
However, the JI did not support PTI and decided to continue the existing system.
Wahid Shah and his group of the councillors also wanted to retain him as nazim for the remaining three months of his constitutional tenure.
Three councillors Fazal Hayat, Riaz Ali Shah and Khalid Shah met nazim, PTI and JI leaders and evolved a consensus formula.
According to the formula, the nazim agreed, in principle, to distribute development funds among all members of the council equally, no contractor would get funds from tehsil government without no objection certificate from members, due respect to be given to all members and tehsil affairs to be run smoothly. The total strength of the Swabi Tehsil Council is 22. Tabassum, a woman councillor had already tendered resignation, while nine members of the council belong to PTI, six to Jamaat-e-Islami, three to Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, one each to Awami National Party, Pakistan People’s Party and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl.
