Independent wins Hangu nazim’s slot in by-poll
HANGU: An independent candidate, Ibrahim Bangash, was elected district nazim of Hangu in the by-election held on Tuesday.
Announcing the results, Assistant Commissioner Shahid Rafiq, who performed as returning officer, said two candidates Ibrahim Bangash, who contested the election in an independent capacity, and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf-backed Anwar Awaz Advocate were in the run for the district nazim slot in the by-election.
He said Ibrahim Bangash polled 16 votes out of the total 29 members of the district council, while Anwar Awaz received 13 votes. The official declared Ibrahim Bangash as the winner of the district nazim slot.
It may be mentioned that the district nazim slot had fallen vacant when the former district nazim Mufti Ubaidullah tendered resignation to contest the July general election for the provincial assembly.
