Kohat police foils arms smuggling bid
KOHAT: The Kohat Police on Sunday foiled an arms smuggling attempt, official sources said.
Assistant Superintendent of Police, Saddar Circle, Muhammad Nabeel Khokhar, told the media the Station House Officer, Bilitang Police Station, accompanied by Sub-Inspector Nasir Abbas and other cops had cordoned off the Sheen Dhand area.
He said the cops signalled to stop a group of suspicious persons who were carrying sacks treading the hills. “Instead of stopping, they abandoned the sacks and fled to the nearby hills,” said the police official. The ASP said three Kalashnikovs, four Kalakovs, 40 pistols, 39 magazines and 1600 cartridges were recovered from the sacks abandoned by the fleeing people. The official said the arms and ammunition were being smuggled to the Attock district through the hilly track in Darra Adamkhel, which connects Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with Punjab. A case was registered at the Bilitang Police Station against the unidentified smugglers.
