NAWABSHAH: Loadshedding, detection bills and overbilling have made the life of electric consumers in Nawabshah miserable. The situation forced the citizens to take to the streets. They took out a protest rally and staged a sit-in outside Nawabshah Press Club.
The protesters said the HESCO staff was involved in power theft and the burden of stolen units was diverted to innocent consumers. Protesters said the consumers receive the bills late while additional units are also charged in them. Insertion of additional units double the unit rate and consumers are bound to make payment or face disconnection.
Protestors said influential persons make monthly deal with Hesco staff and are looting Wapda. They said the meters were shifted from walls to poles to prevent tempering but the same is going on in connivance with the staff of Hesco. They said free and impartial investigation would reveal big scandals.
